About this deal

This version doesn't have "When It Started" like the VMP pressing, but that is the weakest song on the album IMO.

The album which changed modern rock music back in 2001; you can blame them for skinny jeans but ten years on you can't argue with the likes of 'Last Nite' or 'Hard To Explain'. Three singles were released from the album: ‘Hard to Explain’/’New York City Cops’, ‘Last Nite’, and ‘Someday’. Whether you're a longtime fan or discovering The Strokes for the first time, this vinyl edition is a true testament to the band's talent and a reminder of why this album remains a classic in the rock genre. Now, in this limited edition vinyl release, listeners have the opportunity to experience the magic of the album in its purest form.

Two years later we made the move to our present address, 35 The Headrow, where we have remained ever since. Per an interview in 2001/2002 with Julian Casablancas (I read it back then and wish I could find it now), about 5,000 copies were pressed before 9/11 with the song "New York City Cops. Among the many highlights are Last Nite with its insistent motown backbeat and choppy johnny thunders-like guitar solo, Barely Legal, sounding like 1980s-era Cure fronted by a saucy Iggy Pop, and the jangly Someday with its hairshirt of vulnerability from a bad break-up. When he saw the results — "I knew it was the perfect shot - simple, straightforward, graphic and just so sexy. The attention to detail in the packaging, the superb sound quality, and the timeless music make this release a must-have. Tracks like "Last Nite," "Someday," and "Hard to Explain" showcase the band's knack for crafting irresistible hooks and catchy choruses.

One, it is the ONLY pressing that has the same tracklist as the CD version that came out in 2001, which is how I got to know and fell in love with this album.

This was the first vinyl I ever bought alongside Room on Fire at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame during a trip in 2010. The album was released in the summer of 2001 and features the singles ‘Hard To Explain’, ‘Last Nite’ and ‘Someday’ all of which were top 20 hits in the UK. Although the band's catchy guitars and garage-rock leanings made this album an instant classic, its provocative cover was arguably just as impactful.

It has the big hit Last Nite which of course most people will have heard but there simple isn't a dull moment on this album. The black and white image was shot by Colin Lane, who had been photographing the band in New York prior to the album's release.
