I've had several former uncles who were women chasers and alcoholics who changed and became men of faith and no longer adulterers.

Plus I laughed through most of this book, and by that I mean _with_ the author about my cheating clown of a husband, not _at_ the author as was the case with books by Laura Doyle, Hendrix and Hunt, and Gottman. The involved spouse must be committed to change and the injured spouse may join them in building a renewed marriage IF THEY WANT TO and if the genuine work of rebuilding trust has been done. They will not agree with everything I say (just like I did not agree with everything the author said but still gave the book a high rating and have recommended it to others) but may, at least, gain a more accurate view of my perspective.I haven't reviewed or listed this out of shame, however it's one of the most important and impactful books I've read.

These days, self-help books are a dime a dozen and so often seem to be filled with myopic, impractical “advice” rife with wishful thinking on the part of their authors, it’s become both shocking and refreshing to run into a self-help book that actually helps. As a Betrayed Spouse, I've got so much hurt 😭 that I have had to work on me, but I was more self aware than my husband.I truly didn't think anyone would understand how I was feeling after I found out my ex had an affair and we divorced, but I was wrong. I highlighted so many parts of this book that I may as well just re-read it multiple times to pound everything into my stupid Chump head. I needed a reminder on some of the key lessons, although I’m also glad for the ways a year has provided some healing (still not quite to meh, but getting closer). Just over 1 month after D-Day I'm finally getting around to reading (actually listening to via audiobook) Leave a cheater, gain a life - Tracy Schorn. This book will offer advice on Stupid sh*t cheaters say and how to respond, Rookie mistakes of the recently chumped and how to disarm your fears, Why chumps take the blame and how to protect yourself, and more.

Just because someone tried to fuck with your reality doesn’t mean they succeeded in actually altering reality.

Cheating is a horrible choice and very hurtful but a lot of the time cheating is a symptom of a larger issue. You had a Potemkin partner, but that doesn’t mean that plastic cutout person fronting a lie is a reflection on you. Our children and grandchildren are glad that Mimi and Papa are in love; we are amazing and they are (and we are) the benefits of grace and healing.
