They mention that it is versatile, easy to install and operate, and the rest of the process was automatic. Note to others, when the instructions say wait a few minutes for maintenance mode to appear, it really does mean a few minutes. It can be used as a standalone freeview box on your tv, or, connected to the internet for many more programs, and catch up tv. The DN372T boxes are a different generation to the ones in the guide above so will work differently.

When I cancel my main subscription i will be looking for a Freesat box for the living room and possibly looking at the Manhattan options or other recommendations. When my main subscription finishes in October I shall be looking for a satellite box for the living room TV here I don't have an aerial. All youview boxes, including yours, will adapt their screen displays according to which ISP it is connected to. Correct, but the encryption/decryption is effectively transparent to the user (and I admit to being a bit blasé about it). That's something to mull over, as you'll be tied into an initial contract for the provider's overall package just like you would be with Sky, Virgin or any other provider.

I can access the APV App and navigate within it to a film etc, but when I try to play anything it won’t play. Once you've slipped the T2100 in amongst your other home entertainment paraphernalia you'll barely notice it, as it's far smaller and quieter than the original box. There's still plenty of confusion around what you might have to pay for, though, as well as the integration of BT TV services with wider YouView staples. The YouView Recordable TV Box Wall Bracket is another great addition to our line of Original innovative Mounting Solutions. In the long term a computer-type hard drive will fail before an AV grade one when fitted to your YouView box.

I couldn’t even get the box as far as the maintenance road – which I can with the failed (beeping) old disc, or without a disc in at all.

The first generation of box - the Humax DTR-T1000 - coped well enough, but had problems from the start: it was slow to respond, which detracted from the overall experience, and the fan was pretty noisy too. If you’re unfamiliar with YouView, it’s essentially Freeview Plus (pause, rewind and record live TV) with on-demand TV fully integrated into the programme guide.

The power on button still worked but the “down” one didn’t, so the maintenance mode prompt never appeared. I can find references from owners saying that their DTR-T1*** models are OK for SD but haven't seen any for any of the DTR-T1*** models. I came home and my DTR T2100 was on with a blue light showing, but the TV wasn’t receiving a signal from it and it didn’t respond to the remote or any button presses. When not exploring consumer tech, Chris can be found riding his bike - and gathering all the data for later examination. Inside the unit, despite it having an external power adapter, the DTR almost certainly has other power converter circuits to produce a variety of voltages and separate voltage rails.Although many boxes now offer catch-up and internet TV services, the way they're integrated into the EPG on YouView makes them more exciting. The main issue that some have had is attempting to use tools that recognise EXT files but can't handle XFS formatted partitions. I do not have a BT subscription so I don't know if my connection is somehow crippled - I doubt it, I'm just looking for an explanation.
