About this deal

I will be robbing a banner top for my Perry boys, and as I already mentioned I will attempt to rob the repeater gun too if it will not look too weird on a true scale model. They serve as the fire watch, police force and town or city guards whilst in time of war they march out to defend their province or to join the main Imperial army under their Elector Count. Armies must travel hundreds of miles with little indication of when or even how they might be getting home. The other groupings vary from state to state according to the tactics employed and the financial possibilities.Recruiting parties travel through the provinces, beating their drums and promising a life of adventure and glory for those who sign up to join the Emperor s armies. The solution to the riddle may be that Otto is metal, and metal is quite a bit more expensive a material than plastic.

Main Weapons: 12 crossbows (4 repeated x3), 12 handguns (4 repeated x3), 18 pikes (20 counting banner poles), 12 halberd heads for replacing pike heads. Some of the information presented may have a more general utility for historical and other games and modelling projects. Luckily I have a pile of flat square bases from the Northmen and Living Dead models I had from a Fireforge Games kickstarter which I can use. For my next army (whatever it is) I'll be building extra movement trays to swap out formations with. The footsloggers must cover every inch under their own steam, carry all their kit, and even forage for their own food. They are professional soldiers equipped at the expense of the province or city-state to which they answer. Empire melee troops like halberdiers and spearmen have light armour with no armour upgrades purchasable. I would make my own end piece by cutting a thin Perry pike into six or so short lengths and then glue them together in parallel to make the multi-barrelled gun.

Swordsmen: A effective unit due to the fact that they are WS4 and I4, they can stay around for awhile thanks to a decent sace and a 6+ parrry save, its no wonder that these guys are the most liked out of all of the empire infantry units. This immediately sets them apart from the current landscape of bands whose existence is built on piecemeal constructions of heavily edited, quantized drumtracks, samples and use of pitch correction. Other favoured weapons include handguns [1a] [2a] [3a], swords [1a] [2a] [3a], and (in the northern provinces especially) bows [1a] and spears. Obviously there are many variations on this tactic, but all rely upon the principle of mutually supporting units. Most of the Perry heads are helmeted in contrast to the GW kit where the heads are mostly wearing hats.

These comprise Pistoliers, who are light cavalry recruited from the young sons of the landed nobility of the state, and Greatswords.

Left Arms: 22 empty handed (paired with pikes and champion weapons), 2 holding banner pole, 2 paired with drum, 12 paired with crossbow, 12 paired with handgun, 2 holding left hand dagger, 2 for two handed sword grip. These kits are being based for Warhammer Fantasy Battles so a bigger base is a less than ideal solution, so then I went with making the base heavier. There are exceptions to this, of course, such as the Carroburg Greatswords (an infamously hard-bitten regiment who wear blood red uniforms despite hailing from the Reikland) [1a] [3a], the Death's Heads of the Ostermark [1a] [3a], the Scarlet Guard of Stirland [1a] [3a], or the Hochland Blackshields.Yes there were Landsknecht but their were also other soldiers as well with a variety of uniforms and armor. So I figured if I was to add them (probably in the form of Mannan’s Blades mentioned above) it would be at a later stage in a detachment capacity – so they were a no for now. However, if a noble sponsors a regiment, they make sure that their troops can be distinguished, using sashes, feathers, and other devices in their heraldic colours. Long forced marches, makeshift camps, unsanitary conditions, rampant disease, hostile territory, aloof officers, a terrifying foe, any number of factors can make waging war a disconcerting as well as dangerous experience.
