Yes they were heavier , but for my overall comfort and needs have been the best shoe, or sneakers I have ever worn . I am 76 years old, am 6’3″, 220 lbs, size 13-4W, have been running or walking for 50 years, including marathons, have flat feet so have used orthodics for 40 years since Dr. Now that Brooks has the Glycerin GTS model (which features the same foam, similar stack height, GuideRail system, and a similar upper), which comes in over an ounce lighter, is the Beast GTS 23 really necessary? The Beast GTS 23 has been designed with DNA Loft v3, Brooks’ super soft cushioning that has been infused with nitrogen to be as soft, light and durable as possible.

I did find the ride to be fairly firm underfoot, which I enjoy, but those looking for the bounce and/or squish that other max cushion shoes have should look elsewhere because this bad boy is all about stability. Opening and unboxing the shoe for the first time I immediately knew why the shoe was named the Beast.

They're clearly aiming to give the outsole a long life, but this might come with a trade-off in terms of weight. Please consider your individual circumstances when selecting shoe style and size and ensure you are happy with the fit before using the shoes outdoors. It’s just not a shoe I would personally run in and the review is written with Chad and my opinions and experiences in the shoe. I have not done any extensive running on these shoes compared to the previous Brooks Beasts I’ve been wearing for the last 10+ years.
