She does a reasonably good job of distinguishing sex and gender, although I don't think she gave a full description of the myriad ways in which "biological sex" reflects congruence among the distributions of many traits. But Bohannon uses everything from the brain’s patterns of learning to mothers’ ability to speak in infant-friendly tones to make the case that language was invented between baby and caretaker.This is the novel that gives Teha'amana a voice; one that travels with the myths and legends of the island, across history and asks to be heard. As we’ve increasingly learned, female bodies aren’t just male bodies with “extra stuff ” (fat, breasts, uteri). Her work over the last six years has focused on law and policy governing sexual and reproductive health, rights, and technologies. It is a tremendous piece of writing that I don't always agree with but I'm so glad that I have read. This audiobook edition contains a downloadable PDF of illustrations that can be viewed on any MAC or PC device.
And this is her first book, though she has apparently written a lot of articles for a variety of publications.She is bold when speaking against abortion restrictions, the gender wage gap, sex essentialism…and chastity laws.
