About this deal

With a ceramic barrel with four ionic jet emitters, the Revamp is designed to smooth, detangle and add shine and volume to hair as you use it from root to tip.

Options are seemingly endless on the attachment front, but your hair type will drive your decisions there too. These include a diffuser, concentrator nozzle and brush-style head – the latter of which is ideal for blow drying hair straight and adding bounce. On its highest setting it measured 88 decibels in our test, so it’s not the quietest design on the market, and it can feel a little heavy in hand after a while. To put it in perspective, our stylist estimated that a full blowout ordinarily would have taken about 25 minutes.

We even paid attention to other important details, including each dryer’s weight, cord length, button placement, noise level, and accompanying attachments, that impact the overall experience. While there were only three airflow speed settings, we found these were all we needed to attain soft, sleek healthy-looking hair. This hair dryer from BaByliss not only dries thick hair in minutes, it also feels surprisingly lightweight. The airflow balance is also ideal if your hair is smoother and you want some more movement in the roots. Despite having two settings (hot and cool), we wanted more heat settings, especially a medium option, for a more customizable drying experience. It comes in a blue tin box with a diffuser, two concentrator nozzles and a stand included and at 295g, it weighs less than a can of Coke – compare this to the 659g Dyson Supersonic or the 730g Shark STYLE iQ Ionic. Located on the side of the device and positioned close together, the buttons are sensitive and we found it became too easy to switch settings accidentally. The thicker the hair or more coarse in texture, the higher in heat and speed settings you should go to cut drying time in half. I used this on one my clients with soft curls, and while it felt light and easy to use, the diffuser attachment was a little too small for my liking,” says Timothy.

Under 12 ounces and with a decibel level of just 79 (compared to traditional dryers that clock in around 90 or higher), our favorite travel pick is one of the quietest dryers we've encountered. And if you’re perfecting your hair care skills, why not check out our guides to the best hair washing products and the best hair straighteners next? While the lower heat setting wasn’t quite as hot as we’d have preferred, one of our favorite qualities of this model was that the body of the dryer didn't overheat, the way so many hot tools designed for curly and textured hairdo. If you have textured or long, thick hair, you may want to opt for a hair dryer with a higher wattage, fine, thinning, or short hair can get away with lower.Specific modes for scalp care and ‘cool shot’ blasts for setting your style are also useful features to look out for.
