About this deal

I love that Ray had such wonderful friends and that they never gave up on her, kept on believing her. They were wonderful. Though Droplett should learn not to splash everyone, I just felt for their other friend and his constant soggy (almost want to put a GIF from Mary Berry here) sandwich. I did love that competition she was captain of though, that seems like such a cool thing to do and I wish I had weather magic! Sparkling new series with a rip-roaring, colour-infused tale of bravery, storm-filled action, kindness and warm-hearted friendships. Lancashire Post I was just so pissed at everyone everywhere and how they treated Ray. Like she was a bad person. Yes, she has rainbow magic, but instead of being accepting that she has a lot to learn you clearly expect her to do it all perfectly in one go + you keep distrusting her (which is also not helping someone). I just wanted to yeet some snowballs to these people. To make them cool down and think. This is a child. She is trying. She saved your asses last time as well. Be kind. Be nice. Support her in every way you can. 😐 The plot keeps readers reading right to the end, as we see main character Ray finding her inner power (as a Rainbow Weatherling), discovering her own identity and overcoming challenges” - What I Read, teacher and book blogger A fabulously fun read for newly independent readers.” - Miss Cleveland is Reading, school librarian and book blogger

Für Mädchen und Jungen ab 8 Jahren ist das Buch sehr gut zum Selberlesen geeignet und dank den kurzen Kapiteln und zahlreichen Zeichnungen wird es auch den größten Lesemuffel überzeugen. Laura Ellen Anderson must be one of the brightest rainbows in kidlit. Rainbow Grey is bursting with colour, kindness and heart - just like her creator. An utter joy from start to finish. The second book in a magical new series from best-selling author and illustrator, Laura Ellen Anderson! The perfect mix of adventure and peril, Laura has created the most sublime and wondrous world which she brings to life through her marvellous illustrations.” - Book Lover Jo, school librarian and book blogger Ray is a glorious combination of confidence, determination and colour that children will admire Bonkers About Books

Summary

While aimed at readers aged 7-10 years, I feel that Anderson’s books will appeal to young at heart readers of all ages. Since discovering her Amelia Fang series, I have combined the ebooks with the unabridged audiobook editions as I love her quirky art work as well as her storytelling skills. Young Weatherlings are bonded to a cloud -creature that emerge from Puff Pods. These become their lifelong companions. Rainbow’s is Nim, the delightful cat cloud while her Dad has a whale-shaped cloud named Waldo. Ten-year-old Ray Grey lives in the magical Weatherlands, high in the sky! She is surrounded by Weatherlings with astounding weather power at their fingertips … but poor Ray doesn't have ANY magic!

Rainbow Grey: Eye of the Storm’ is Book 2 in Laura Ellen Anderson’s charming children’s fantasy about the adventures of Ray Rainbow Grey, who lives in the Weatherlands as part of a community of beings that control the weather. Ten-year-old Ray Grey lives in the magical Weatherlands, high in the sky. Ray is surrounded by Weatherlings with astounding weather power at their fingertips, but she doesn't have ANY magic... Until a trip to Earth to find some secret treasure changes Ray's life forever– and she becomes Rainbow Grey. A lively story with a fully imagined alternative world, an entertaining collection of characters and a brave heroine.” I appreciated Beth Easdown’s narration as she utilises her vocal skills to portray a wide range of characters. In addition, her comic timing is excellent.

Laura Ellen Anderson Press Reviews

Book 1 covers the origin story of Rainbow Grey and in ‘Eye of the Storm’ she is settling into Sky Academy with the other young Weatherlings. Then mysterious events begin to occur, including the disappearance of a number of personal cloud-creatures. When all of the cloud creatures start disappearing – including Ray’s own beloved cloud cat, Nim – Ray and her friends have a mystery to solve. Ray is sure that a dark magic is behind the disappearances. Can she work out what is going on before cloud magic is lost forever and Earth is destroyed by the ultimate storm . . .? The newest book from Laura Ellen Anderson, and it took me a bit to read (got the book end of March and it took me till the mid of June before I started reading) but here we are! As soon as I started I couldn’t stop. It was just that well-written. Amid all this action – and the farting-cloud-cat silliness you’d expect from the creator of the bestselling Amelia Fang books – is a book that lets in quieter moments too, and really focuses on the friendship between Ray and her pals Snowden and Droplett. Indeed, the end message is very much about how love, hope and togetherness will always triumph and give a person a strength they didn’t think they had.

Ray is a glorious combination of confidence, determination and colour that children will admire” - Bonkers About Books The perfect mix of adventure and peril, Laura has created the most sublime and wondrous world which she brings to life through her marvellous illustrations. Book Lover Jo, school librarian and book blogger A lively story with a fully imagined alternative world, an entertaining collection of characters and a brave heroine.
