About this deal

These traditional waffles make a delicious healthy breakfast but with a few indulgent accompaniments they can also be a decadent dessert! Once the batter can easily be lifted off the griddle pan with a spatula, flip the waffle batter over and give it another five minutes of heat. SAFETY BUILT IN: Each waffle machine allows safe and straightforward cooking, you have full cooking control thanks to the automatic temperature gauge & cool touch handle for safe operation. For best results, allow the waffle mixture to0. rest for five minutes before pouring into the machine. This is to enable the chemical reaction of the raising agent to begin. It will help the waffles to rise. Choose a waffle maker with an audible or visible alert to help you know what is going on. Most will light up or chime when its preheated enough, ready to cook another batch or when your waffles are done. A sound is preferable to light as it allows you to step away and get on with other things instead of hovering nervously over the machine. 6. Ease of storage

WAFFLES MADE EASY: Start your day off the right way with the VonShef mini waffle maker – with a cook time of just 4 minutes you’ll never have a boring breakfast again, whether it’s weekday pre-work fuel or a weekend family treat. Using Jamie Oliver's waffle batter recipe , we made waffles with every waffle maker we tested using the same ingredients, and took as much care as possible not to overfill or underfill the cooking plates. You might also love our blueberry breakfast waffles recipe here. More Easy Breakfast Recipes To Try Every waffle maker we tested got very hot everywhere except the handle. Make sure not to touch any other part of the waffle maker while it's in use and wear protective gloves if you're worried about burning yourself.Heat up the waffle maker– I gently brush the waffle plates with a little melted butter and then pour in the batter – I cook these for around 6-7 minutes and don’t even peep at them before 4 minutes is up. The total baking time is a bit longer than the other models tested – approx. 5 -10 minutes and it was hard to ascertain when to flip. The instruction manual suggests part-way through so it will take a few practice runs to get the timing just right. You will need to peek at your waffle from time to time to see what is going on (but make sure you leave them alone for the first few minutes). Top the waffles – load the strawberries, raspberries and blueberries onto the hot waffle and drizzle with maple syrup.

The USP with this machine is its Waffle IQ which knows the exact state the machine is in when you add the batter. If you don’t wait for the machine to heat up between cooking cycles it will automatically adjust the cooking time accordingly. This gives super consistent results. If there is any overflow it will get caught in the wraparound moat. This also cooks the batter at the same time, giving you something to nibble on and making clean up a doddle. However if you only eat waffles occasionally and don't mind compromising on the finished product, you can also make them in a griddle pan.The ready light will make sure you don't add your waffle batter before it's time to cook, delivering a perfect sizzle. That edge channel is useful too. On some waffle makers you'll have to deal with waffle batter overflowing from the edge of the machine, but the channel will catch any excess and make it easy for you to remove while you serve up a perfectly round waffle. Ok, don't get me wrong, I love unhealthy waffles but these healthy waffles are actually a great breakfast recipe. There is no sugar in these waffles so they really do make a healthy breakfast recipe. Despite being sugar free, they are still delicious enough to feel like a treat. What to serve with these traditional waffles? Waffle makers that make audible beeps when they're ready to go earned extra points, while slow to heat and poorly labelled ones were penalised. EASY TO USE: With a cool touch handle and an indicator light to let you know when your 600W waffle maker is up to temperature, whipping up treats to satisfy your sweet tooth couldn’t be easier.

Owl Toast– just the cutest breakfast ever, toast muffins and spread with peanut butter then top with sliced fruit to create a cute little owl face and features. COMPACT DESIGN: The waffle machine’s small footprint is perfect for kitchens with limited space, as it won’t take over your counter or storage space – not that it will be in the cupboard for long! The only complaint is that the plates aren’t removable so clean-up is a bit more of a fiddle and because of the rotating function, the machine isn’t as compact as others but for the price this is an impressive waffle maker that you can rely on for an indulgent weekend breakfast. The rotating function is a unique addition and ensures an even and consistently cooked waffle. This is operated manually which means you can’t really walk away but the process is actually quite therapeutic and forces you to not forget about them. Sleek and narrow, this waffle iron is designed to be flipped 180 degrees during the cooking process for a super consistent bake. In fact, most chefs opt for a flipping waffle maker so let’s trust their advice on this one. Once plugged in it takes about 4 minutes to heat up. A green light will come on to let you know it’s ready for your batter. Making two waffles at a time, pour your mix into the centre of the trays and close the lid.Once heated you will need to brush or spritz some fat on the trays before adding your batter. The manual doesn’t advise on quantity but I found two cups to be enough. If you do overfill, the handy drip tray will save you from messing up your work top. Pancake Recipe– the perfect pancake recipe for when you want those lovely thin crepe style pancakes to sprinkle with sugar and lemon The Vonshef Waffle maker came with three recipes so you can make traditional waffles, Belgian waffles or buttermilk waffles. The toppings and accompaniments are then up to you. I made traditional waffles first as the recipe was the simplest and just like mixing up pancake batter. However, I have since tried the Belgian waffles and they are delicious too, although more effort to make! Aren't Waffles an Unhealthy dessert? I'd imagined a waffle maker might be awkward to use and fiddly to clean but it was actually much simpler than I'd expected. You heat it up, pour the batter into the middle of the tray, close the lid and then in about 5 minutes the waffles are ready. You just wipe it clean afterwards, rather like a toasted sandwich maker. After lightly greasing the plates (I would recommend using a pastry brush) pour a large tablespoon of batter into the centre of the plate and let the machine do the work for you.

We timed how long it takes each waffle maker to heat up before it's ready to cook, how easily detachable plates can be removed for cleaning, and how clear and bright the indicator lights are.

If you want to make a large batch and eat together with friends or family, then you can keep cooked waffles warm in the oven. A few minutes in the oven can actually improve their crispiness. Don't wrap them in foil as they may go a bit limp and soft. French Toast Stars– kids just love this star shaped eggy bread, delicious served with a ketchup or BBQ sauce dip, or just drizzle with syrup.
