About this deal
There is a built in frontend which does admittedly take a while to set up from scratch but once you do have it set up, it is very good. Essentially you choose which gaming systems you would like to add, then go through each system to add the ROM path and then scan for recognised games. It is far better than the frontend on the RG505 by a long shot. Nintendo: NES, SNES, Nintendo64, GameCube, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS, Virtual Boy, Game and Watch! Anything short of sixth-generation consoles plays just fine, at least. Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, NES, Nintendo 64, Super NES, Sony PlayStation, and Turbografx-16 games all run smoothly and with nicely sharp, upscaled graphics. Even most PlayStation Portable games play well, though the most advanced games, such as God of War: Chains of Olympus and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, stutter a bit. The screen is fantastic, too, making each game pop with vibrant colors. There is also a built-in screen mapper to map the controls to Android games that do not natively support controllers! The easy-to-use screen mapper simply requires drag and drop icons to on-screen button areas to configure. You can gain the upper hand on first person shooters against those still playing on awkward on-screen controls! We’ve seen ANBERNIC do this time and time again, and it’s why I only speak highly of a few of their handhelds because i don’t want you to fall into that trap of buying them every couple of months.
The 4.7-inch touchscreen display, offering a clear resolution of 750x1334@60fps and 450nits brightness, ensures every pixel of your classic games shines through. Running on Android 11, this retro gaming console provides a user-friendly interface and robust performance.
Please Note
This to me is straight up disrespectful, and I have always held GoRetroid on a high pedestal, but moving forward it seems they have become like every other Chinese handheld manufacturer… greedy bastards.
Buying one of these will entice not only GoRetroid but other manufacturers to use this scammy marketing tactic moving forward.
A Good Handheld That Requires Some Work
As with all Android based handhelds we run a series of system benchmarks to see their general performance and we can also use the results to compare to other handhelds. So this review is going to be a little different, I have spoken about my concerns here, and i hope you take them into consideration, but i do want to review this handheld as is, because it’s a great device and let’s face it, we are all adults here, you can spend your money on what you want, but i just had to start the article off with my opinions on their marketing strategy and advise that you don’t buy it because it seems they genuinely don’t give a toss about their customers.
