Arwen arrived at Minas Tirith after Aragorn had become King of Gondor and Arnor, and they married on Midsummer's Day in the year TA 3019, after the end of the War of the Ring. She became Queen of the Reunited Kingdom. After marrying Aragorn, she bestowed upon Frodo Baggins a gift; her place on the ships to Valinor. She bore Aragorn's son, Eldarion, and several unnamed daughters, some time in the Fourth Age. The tales tell little of Galadriel or of Celeborn during many centuries in the Third Age, but after the formation of the White Council in TA 2463 she put forth her might in opposition of Sauron. During the invasion of the Balchoth, Galadriel provided aid to Eorl the Young and the Éothéod in the form of a white mist that protected them both from the evils of Sauron in Dol Guldur and the sight of their enemies. This allowed the Éothéod to ride unnoticed to the Battle of the Field of Celebrant. They would become the Rohirrim but regarded her and the Golden Wood with fear. Galadriel was highly praised for her unrivaled beauty, particularly that of her hair, which was a deep and radiant gold, shot with silver. It was said by the Elves of Tirion to have ensnared the light of the Two Trees of Valinor, Telperion and Laurelin, and possibly to have inspired the creation of the Silmarils by Fëanor. She was also the tallest of elf-women, standing at around 6 feet 4 inches, or 193 centimeters. Because of her wisdom and power, she had very important roles throughout the history of Middle-earth, especially during her time in Eregion and during the War of the Ring. She had a penchant for dressing in the purest white. Arwen was voiced by Sonia Fraser in The Lord of the Rings (1981 radio series) and by Kath Soucie in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (video game). In the fan film The Hunt for Gollum, Arwen is played by Rita Ramnani. In The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, Arwen is a playable hero through a DLC. Some believe that the majority of Galadriel's powers came from her ring: Nenya, the Ring of Water. In a letter to his friend Milton Waldman dating from 1951, however, Tolkien stated that Rings of Power could only enhance the "natural powers of the possessor" and not grant entirely new powers. [11]In addition to this, Galadriel's power to perceive the thoughts of others was apparent from her early youth, long before she obtained Nenya. In some tales, she was also depicted with the powers of communicating over vast distances, predicting the future, and even cloaking her mind from other powerful beings (she once stated that Sauron could not perceive her mind, though she could perceive his). This power was the most closely connected to her Ring, as The Silmarillion tells us the Elves were able to perceive the mind of Sauron when they put on their rings. It is also possible that her powers of divination were either derived from or accentuated by her mirror, which could reveal events of the past, present, and future.

In the meantime, Galadriel discovers a document disproving Halbrand's claim as King of the Southlands, and she confronts him about his identity. Here Halbrand reveals himself to her as Sauron, and through a vision attempts to draw her to his side, arguing that he wishes to heal Middle-earth. Though persuasive, Galadriel ultimately rejects his offer, though she keeps his identity a secret so that Celebrimbor will go through with forging the needed artifacts. She opines to Celebrimbor that three rings are needed instead of Sauron's proposed two, and the Master-smith proceeds to forge the Three Rings: Vilya, Nenya, and Narya. In the game The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest, mithril is three lore items, and the rarest currency is a Mithril bar, worth a hundred silver coins, while in the game MUME ("Multi-Users in Middle-earth") several legendary items are made from mithril, including the best armour available in the game, which can be found in Moria, some of which requires a group to defeat the Balrog (Durin's Bane) to obtain the key to its treasury. It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” —Bilbo Baggins After facing the judgment of the Valar for defying the Doom of Mandos, Eärendil passed the Door of Night and sailed into the Void. He briefly returned to fight in the War of Wrath, and then set off on an endless journey through the "starless voids," guarding the walls of Arda. [1]Galadriel first appears in An Unexpected Journey at a meeting of the White Council alongside Elrond, Gandalf, and Saruman. She believes Gandalf when he claims that the Necromancer is becoming a bigger threat and that something must be done with Dol Guldur.

and she grew to be tall beyond the measure even of the women of the Noldor; she was strong of body, mind, and will [...] Yet deeper still there dwelt in her the noble and generous spirit of the Vanyar, and a reverence for the Valar that she could not forget. While Moria was the only known source of mithril, there are inconclusive indications that it may also have been found in Númenor and Aman in smaller quantities. In the year 121 of the Fourth Age, after Aragorn's death, Arwen died of a broken heart at Cerin Amroth in Lórien, [2] and was buried there one year after the death of Aragorn, to whom she had been wedded for 122 years. She was 2901 years old. The Ñoldor of Eregion discovered how to make an alloy out of it called ithildin ("star moon"), which was often used to decorate gateways and portals, and was visible only by starlight or moonlight. The West-gate of Moria bore inlaid ithildin etchings and runes. Galadriel is the last child of Finarfin, and additionally, the last remaining grandchild of Finwë (with the possible exception of Maglor).

While it is never explicitly stated where the mithril shirt originally came from, in the extended edition, Gandalf tells the Fellowship that Bilbo had a set of mithril rings given to him by Thorin. Gimli states that it was a kingly gift and Gandalf agrees but admits he never told Bilbo exactly how valuable the rings were. In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair! The Southlands were also created for the series. Tolkien's work and various notes suggest Mordor already existed and was called by that name because of its volcanic activity by this point in the 2nd Age]

In the middle of the table, against the woven cloths upon the wall, there was a chair under a canopy, and there sat a lady fair to look upon, and so like was she in form of womanhood to Elrond that Frodo guessed that she was one of his close kindred. Young she was and yet not so. The braids of her dark hair were touched by no frost, her white arms and clear face were flawless and smooth, and the light of stars was in her bright eyes, grey as a cloudless night; yet queenly she looked, and thought and knowledge were in her glance, as of one who has known many things that the years bring. Now this babe was of greatest beauty; his skin of a shining white and his eyes of a green surpassing that of the meadows in the southern lands -- greener than the emeralds of the raiment of Manwe;~ and the envy of Meglin was deep at his birth, but the joy of Turgon and all the people very great indeed" — The Book of Lost Tales Part Two, " The Fall of Gondolin" Etymology [ ] The world is dangerous. The moment you enter it, a lot can hurt you. There’s so much to do, but we’re rarely given directions on how to navigate life. It’s so easy to get lost, achieve nothing, and end up in places you don’t want to be. Arwen was the youngest child of Elrond and Celebrían; her elder brothers were the twins Elladan and Elrohir. Through her father, she was the granddaughter of Eärendil the Mariner (the second of the Half-elves), great-granddaughter of Tuor of Gondolin, and therefore a direct descendant of the ancient House of Hador. Arwen was also a descendant of High King Turgon of the Ñoldor through her great-grandmother, Idril. Through her mother, she was the granddaughter of the Lady Galadriel and the great-granddaughter of Finarfin. Éomer of Rohan said that the Lady Arwen was more fair than the Lady Galadriel of Lórien, but Gimli son of Glóin thought differently. Through both of her parents Arwen was a direct descendant of the ancient Elven House of Finwë. Furthermore, Arwen was a descendant of Beren and Lúthien Tinúviel, whose story resembled hers. Indeed, Arwen was held to be the reappearance in likeness of her ancestress Lúthien, fairest of all the Elves, who was called Nightingale (Tinúviel).

All others look upon you with doubt. I alone can see your greatness," he tells her with smooth persuasiveness. "I alone can see your light. I would make you a queen. Fair as the sea and the sun. Stronger than the foundations of the earth."In place of a Dark Lord you will have a queen. Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the seas. Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair." Instead of a fight ensuing, the newly-healed Sauron attempts to manipulate Galadriel once again, this time urging her to join him in his quest for domination, all the while promising her power. In the Hervarar saga, which was a cycle dealing with the magic sword Tyrfing (and from which Tolkien borrowed, for instance, the names Dwalin and Durin), the hero Orvar-Odd wore a silken mailcoat which nothing could pierce ( Oddr svarar: "ek vil berjask við Angantýr, hann mun gefa stór högg með Tyrfingi, en ek trúi betr skyrtu minni, enn brynju þinni, til hlífðar").
