The romance was sweet but insta-love is one of my pet peeves so it takes me a while to be invested in a couple that took them a couple of chapters to fall in love rather than seeing how that love grows. But they had good chemistry and I felt the genuine love and care they have for one another. I like that they're both emotionally vulnerable around each other.
The third installment in a series of five books, the story of Breanna and Lina, two warrior women, BA heroines, and incredible characters, was incredible. I generally don’t like the “I’m not good enough for you” or “I’m pushing you away for your own good” tropes; it wasn’t necessarily bad in this book and it did work, but I think there are just some issues with it. Mulford writes some of my favorite enemies to lovers fantasy, but not to be outdone by the forbidden love in this book! The slow burning tension created between these phenomenal characters was SO good. I’ve never read a fantasy series (let alone fantasy romance) that is this inclusive and has so much representation. I appreciate how anyone can picture themselves in the realm of Okrith, regardless of sexual identity, sexual orientation, or skin tone. It feels effortless to read, but is very impactful. I adored this book, and can’t wait for The Evergreen Heir! I received an arc of this novel from the author and I’m leaving an honest review. Thank you to A.K Mulford for this opportunity!This was definitely at times one of the hardest of these novels so far to read due to the amount of loss and grief involved, but honestly, Mulford's treatment of those moments was so elegantly and gently handled, it was an emotional, but appreciated effort.

This book right here! Look Bri was already a favorite character from the previous books and her getting time to shine is what I was looking for. You get her as you know her from before, but also get the chance to see her finally feel like she can lower her guards along the way. I think AK does a great job capturing the dual nature of warriors in this character. Briata (Bri) Catullus has been one of my favorite characters in the whole series and finding out the third book would focus on her was a great moment. The Western Queen has been murdered, and Briata, a fae warrior, has been called to come home and help protect the Western Princess. However, she arrives to find that distrust and anger is still held against her for a prophecy saying she’ll seize the crown from the sovereign. Bri has no interest in it, and just wishes to stop the witch hunters before they kill again. Los personajes es lo que más me ha gustado en esta novela; la protagonista me ha ganado desde el principio porque pese a vivir escondida ella es temeraria. El personaje masculino fue ganando mi cariño conforme avanzaba en la novela, una vez que se revela su pasado ya es me ganó por completo. De las cosas que más me han gustado y destaco más es el enfrentamiento constante y las puyas entre protagonistas, me encanta la tensión sexual y el conflicto que hay entre ellos
