About this deal

Based on the specifications of Lenovo, it only accepts the regular RAM not the low voltage. You may try it but no guarantee that it will work. My suggestion is, use the recommended RAM by lenovo. Most of the time as long as it is a regular RAM not the low voltage, even if the frequency of the RAM not the one recommended by Lenovo, it will work. It even works most of the time if you mixed 2 different frequencies as long as it is not the low voltage RAM. Very low operating voltages, to help significantly reduce the power consumption and extend the usable duration of battery-powered devices. I don't think there's any official naming conventions for letters after the speed in megabyte(12800).

What is the difference between DIMM modules labelled as PC3L

In general, it is always recommended to not mix Memory RAM of different voltage levels. This is becausemixing of different voltage specified RAM might work, but it can create several compatibility issues. In servers, the processor model number affects how fast the memory can operate. Higher model numbers support 1600MT/s, but may be limited by the number of DIMMs per Channel that are installed. Usually, PC3 or DDR3 RAM module is used on most of the computer, laptop, and desktop devices, servers, etc. To boost their system and upgrade the operating performance, PC3 RAM is the best option. Achieve memory power savings of up to 67 percent using Samsung's latest 20-nm class DDR3 solutions, compared to existing 50-nm class DDR3. To extrapolate, the "E" memory does not have the additional registers and is unbuffered. They both are ECC, but they both are NOT registered. You usually cannot mix them, but sometimes enterprise server boards can accept both; with "R" usually allowing more installable memory capacity I think. On the other hand, PC3L RAM is also a type 3 DRAM memory module but this type is a little bit different from the PC3 RAM. It is basically a special type of RAM of DDR3 that comes with low voltage specifications. My work station circa 2011 takes ECC "E" (unbuffered at the time) and my server circa 2006 takes ECC "F" or fully buffered, which then for a time was labeled "R". It just depends on the times.

As @davidschwartz pointed out in the comments, the "R" memory is registered which "means it has additional buffers". Sometimes registered memory is called buffered memory. Well, as you may know, RAM is one of the crucial components of your device. So, without having the best RAM type, you can’t upgrade the performance of your device.

Most, if not all PC3L modules can support 1.50V operation, so there shouldn't be any issues in your case Energy efficiency can translate into big cost savings for server and desktop environments, long battery life for notebook users, and small carbon footprints. Samsung Computing DRAM solutions boost competitiveness with features enabling you to:

Operate at voltages as low as 1.2V while enabling nearly twice the bandwidth of DDR3 with upcoming DDR4 memory. Yet, its length is 67.5 mm and has 204 pins. Besides, newer Intel processors- Intel 4 th (Haswell) and 5 th(Broadwell) generation, Skylake Processors, higher processors, and AMD FX series use this PC3L RAM module. Power Consumption Differences of Both RAM The older Intel processors or up to the Intel 3 rd Generation require this regular PC3 memory module. Moreover, these SO-DIMM PC modules are available at different frequencies including 800 MHz, 1066 MHz, 1333 MHz, 1600 MHz, 1866 MHz, and 2133 MHz and they have a chip’s capacity of up to 8 GB.In terms of upgrading the performance of your personal computer and laptop with high voltage, the PC3 RAM is a great choice for you. But, if you want to upgrade the performance of your laptop, mobile, and other embedded devices with low voltage, you should go for PC3L RAM. Lenovo does not manufacture memory! They buy from one of only three original memory module makers. Samsung, Hynix and Micron make the DRAM and assemble modules. They sell to the world’s largest system manufacturers including, Lenovo. Whereas, with the single-voltage chip memory, PC3 RAM doesn’t have the pin-compatibility with the PC3L memory slot. Opportunities for DRAM memory are vast, and cover almost every device capable of being interconnected and networked. Samsung Computing DRAM delivers a wide range of design advantages, including:

Kingston Technology Europe Co LLP and Kingston Digital Europe Co LLP, Kingston Court, Brooklands Close, Are you looking for the best Memory RAM to keep your computer trouble-free? Then, maybe you are in a dilemma about which one you should choose on PC3 vs PC3L.

The right memory solution can be one of your most important competitive advantages. Samsung leads the industry with cutting-edge DRAM technology, including DDR2, DDR3-and soon, DDR4-to heighten the success of your designs. Leverage Samsung's fastest and highest performance DDR3 memory today with a dual-channel, 128-bit memory module to enable a throughput of more than 25.6GB/s. I have a pair of DDR3 SODIMM RAM modules in my laptop, and I want to replace the 2GB for a 4GB that is compatible. So far I haven't been able to find an exact match but I found a very similar with a PC3L label instead of PC3. Can they work together? Increasingly dense fabrication (such as the latest 20-nm DDR3), minimizing the number of chips going into the end product and reclaiming board space that previous-generation chips would otherwise occupy. When it comes to considering the improvement in operating system performance, remember that it will cost you more. Therefore, based on the fact, it reveals that the price of PC3L RAM will be much higher than PC3 RAM. PC3L 12800S is a SO-DIMM(small outline DIMM) module which is used in compact devices such as laptops and notebooks. And 12800U is a UDIMM (Unbuffered DIMM) module typically used in servers and desktop computers.
