About this deal

I'm not even going to get into how utterly stupid and annoying that nonsense with LeFou was. That was some of the most idiotic flip-flopping I have ever seen. And it was all for the purpose of pushing the plot along, so deus ex machina rears its ugly head.

Set in 1789, Rebel Rose by Emma Theriault is a continuation of the classic tale, Beauty and the Beast. Rebel Rose follows Belle and Lio(Beast) after their wedding. The story is tied into the French Revolution, giving it a political feel. It is a bit darker and more serious than what we are used to, and seems more of a mystery than a fairy tale. There is even a beheading involved! But don’t worry, there is not much detail about that. with a retelling, i fully expect and want authors to make the story their own. but with a continuation, it makes sense that the follow up be similar to the original story, and i just did not get that with this. belle seems like a completely different character. shes quite selfish a lot of the time and it just really rubbed me the wrong way. And then she realized that he thought her separate from them. She lived her whole life as a commoner, but since she’d married Adam, something about her marked her as different. She didn’t know if it was the shine of her hair, or the fullness of her cheeks, but just as Bastien knew she wasn’t noble, others now knew she wasn’t common. It left her torn between two worlds, neither of which she truly belonged to. There was a smooth transition from the movie content to this story. Belle, Lio and some other favorites, such as Mrs. Potts, Lumiere and Cogsworth, all behaved as you would expect them too and I appreciated that consistency.I really enjoyed this one, guys, and feel like this is a solid start to The Queen's Council series. Belle has always been one of my favorite Disney princess. From our love of reading, to our ferocity and independence, I have always seen myself in Belle. So getting approved for this book and reading what happened to Belle and the Beast after the curse is broken was heavenly. And to top it off, it's set during the French Revolution and historically accurate? I already knew this was going to be a winner for me. She is the single handed most annoying character in the book. I also rewatched the Disney movies to see if she was like this and guess what...NO. She is headstrong sure, she does things how she wants but she is still kind and thinks about others i.e. her father, the beast, and the people in the castle (Lumiere, Cogsworth, etc). And King Louis hides away in Versailles, caring very little about our starving children, and then he has the audacity to ask us for more. He calls the Estates of France to his palace and pretends the Third Estate will have an equal voice, but we have never been equal! Not even on the foreign battlefields where France’s poor- est sons fight and bleed and die for freedoms they themselves will never know.” He paused and waited for the crowd to settle once more. “We must be united in our opposition; we must not separate until France has a constitution!”

Rebel Rose – Book Review | the Disney Driven Life

Belle may have grown up a peasant, and she may not have taken the title that was afforded to her, but she didn’t think either fact would be enough to convince the people of Paris that she was nothing like the nobles they reviled. but i do love the intertwining of actual history in this. i think its an outstanding concept to take the disney princess stories and place them in the real historical contexts. i found that part of the story really interesting and i very much look forward to the other books in this series because of that.

Stunning Floral Arrangements

Overall this was a very powerful beginning in this series and I am very excited to see which princess will be next! Personally, I am rooting for Cinderella. This book is like a season 2 right after the happily ever after of belle and the beast ( our boy lio) and since all the fairy tales leave in that part, i always wanted to know what will become after their happy ending and this can be 1 in a milion possiblity. This trip was to be a reprieve. Here she was anonymous, just someone going about their day. Her plain dress made her invisible. She could enjoy Paris the way she’d always imagined, before returning to her new life and hoping it fit her better after some time away from it. In this series, each book will be written by a different author and follow the story of a different Disney Princess as they come into own. From what Belle understood of French politics, it was a deceptively simple desire. In France, the power was concentrated in the hands of the clergy and the nobility. Peasants had nothing. It had been that way for centuries. But what if they could take some for themselves? What if the Third Estate became something? It would change the world.
