Excellent stuff and I’ve just added another book by McGowan to my TBR list, if it’s half as good as this one, it’ll be enjoyable. Meanwhile, there's Scott, the main writer of the school newspaper, and some people who seem to be in thrall to him for some reason - Euan, Khalid, Naz, and Amber (I might be forgetting one). Ruby starts making friends with Euan, which I liked a lot. She starts to understand stuff about how the school works (in a One of Us us Lying kind of way). Then someone turns up dead and all eyes turn on Ruby... again. years later, Rachel finds the body of her boyfriends' ex wife and instead of calling it in, she goes home and puts the kettle on. It won't take long before she is in the middle of a media storm once more.J'ADORE. 4.5/5 stars only because the "reveal" was obvious from the start. However, Claire's writing, character-building, and the original storyline kept me engaged. If you want a book with easy-to-understand language this would be a good book. Although murder is the main plotline there’s a sprinkle of a sweet romance. The killer's arming of himself with a hook is a reference to the urban legend "The Hook", which the four main characters recount at the beginning of the film around a campfire.
