About this deal

While I like Yamaha’s piano samples, their detail in the P-45 is lacking and doesn’t do the sound source justice. All new products are sold with a 2-year manufacturer warranty which is upgraded to 3 years when bought direct from Korg UK. It seems that players these days aren't all that interested in having access to an infinite amount of sounds and features, instead opting for a handful of top-quality voices, comfortable action and useful learning aids built-in - enter the Korg B2.

If you know anything at all about Korg, you will be aware of their great reputation for producing excellent sounds, and the B2 in no way marries that image.Apart from the volume knob, all the features are operated from a few buttons, requiring occasional key/button combos. Andertons YouTube videos helped me make my purchasing decision – in their blind tests, the Korg B2's piano samples sounded best to me ears. The speakers are good, as Korg implements Motional Feedback ( MFB) technology, which reproduces bass frequencies by moving the speaker cone to correspond with necessary frequencies. The piano’s tones impressed us with their clarity and articulation, as well as their pleasing bass end.

The piano surely helps in recreating the experience of playing a real piano, when two notes should not sound in the same way. Major factors in the sound picture when playing music include acoustics and reverb; the placement of the loudspeakers affects how much reverberation is heard. This piano also comes with a headphone output for silent practice, audio in for jamming with your favourite songs and a piano-style sustain pedal. AUDIO INBy connecting your smartphone's headphone jack or your music player, you can output your favorite music through the speakers of the B2 and enjoy playing along. We advise choosing a piano with 12–20W if your instrument will be placed in a family room or other medium-sized room.Stylish, portable and with a range of powerful features and connectivity options, B2 will enhance your playing experience from the first note.

I mostly care about realistic key touch, you mentioned you prefer Roland FP10 keys “I also prefer Roland’s keyboard action, as per me it is more “natural”, but then you didn’t had the FP10 on the comparison tables ? This instrument uses a Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) keyboard that reproduces the same feel that results from the hammers on a real acoustic piano, where the low register is heavier and the high register is lighter. Casio is good also, but I expect it to release the updated PX piano soon, so maybe you should wait a little and check it. The sounds and their effects on the Korg B2 piano are limited, where the players get only eight voices. Also available is the B2N, which is equipped with the same functionality as the B2 but features a lighter-touch keyboard. It comprises of natural weighted hammer action keyboard, which is pretty basic and tries to stack up the GHS action of the Yamaha digital piano. Supposedly, this is because of the improvement of the quality controls after some feedback on the areas of improvement of the build quality of the B1 that Korg received.
