About this deal

The illustrations did a great job of continuing to depict the eery feel that the author wanted his readers to feel; one picture would show the outside bright and cheery while the next picture showed the dark and gloomy inside as the boys descended down the ladder into the water. The reservoir in the tower may be spherical, cylindrical, or an ellipsoid, with a minimum height of approximately 6 metres (20ft) and a minimum of 4m (13ft) in diameter. A cross section of a spheroid in two directions (east-west or north-south) is an ellipse, but in only one direction (top-bottom) is it a perfect circle.

Another Image I enjoyed was the one inside the water tower, you could see oldness and the rustiness of the tower that the words described and so on and so forth. It's very hot, so the boys take off their shirts and shorts and begin to climb down into the tank for a swim. Bubba's mother only appears in one illustration in the text, and she is seen standing at a window staring at the watertower. The words and the pictures are equally as important, I feel that the pictures are very important to the story and wouldn't make sense without them. Germantown's Earthoid water tower could be up for a makeover WSSC to choose new painted design for tank next month". Students will still enjoy hunting for clues and noticing details and it will be interesting to see them wonder about the disconnect between the text and the images. Children love exploring the pictures for details and clues and the way the illustrator uses the layout is very engaging. His other awards include the National Children's Book Award, the NSW and Victorian Premiers' Awards, and the Ned Kelly Award for crime fiction.

The eerie description of the tower suggests there is something unusual, and perhaps even sinister, about the tower that overlooks this rural, Australian outback town. The author did a great job keeping readers on the edge of their seat; a lot of opportunity for prediction and discussion is present in how the author makes the reader really think about what’s happening. Built in 1932 the building has evolved over the years to provide a modern spacious environment for guests to enjoy meals and to join in with any events that we have going on.Unfortunately, despite Woolman's able renderings in acrylic, chalk and pencil, the design--which shifts between horizontal and vertical orientations--only underscores the feeling of disorientation raised in the text. It may work as a read aloud so that the students can predict what is going on in the story from page to page and predict what is going to happen next.
